Thomas is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been a therapist and social worker serving the Koolauloa Region of O‘ahu for more than a decade. He is Adjunct Faculty at BYU–Hawaii teaching Social Work and is a Lecturer in the Social Work Department at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. He is a Ph.D. student at The Thompson School of Social Work and Public Health at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and is a Graduate Assistant for the Hawai‘i Caring Systems Initiative, a youth suicide prevention program. Thomas is currently working on completing a dissertation on suicide postvention as a way of learning more about suicide risk factors associated with macro systems.
